Mumbai Indians have been accused of DRS cheating against Punjab Kings in their last match in IPL 2024. The five-time IPL winners clashed against the Kings on April 18, Thursday, in Mullanpur. The game saw Hardik Pandya’s team securing a nine-run victory over their counterparts, owing to Jasprit Bumrah’s heroics with the ball. Despite Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh’s antics Punjab failed to finish beyond the victory line.

However, hours after the match, a few clips started going viral on social media, and fans accused MI of ‘DRS Cheating’. In the visuals, MI’s Tim David could be seen signalling for a DRS review before realising he was on the camera.

Netizens accuse Mumbai Indians of 'DRS Cheating'

In visuals doing rounds from the match, David could be allegedly seen signaling Suryakumar Yadav to take DRS for reviewing a wide ball. However, he didn’t realise that he was on camera all the time. Not only this but Punjab Kings’ stand-in captain Sam Curran was also seen opposing the on-field umpire; however, no action was taken. Several fans took to social media to lash out at the umpiring standards in this season of the league.

Not only this, but former Australia cricketer Tom Moddy also shared his views on social media and questioned the umpiring. He tweeted, “It’s time we considered having specialist 3rd umpires, too many questionable decisions being made. Some umpires are better suited on the field, the 3rd umpire requires experience and a certain skill set.”
