Languishing side Mumbai Indians' senior players have reportedly questioned the leadership style of the current skipper Hardik Pandya following the five-time IPL winner’s woeful performance in the ongoing season. Mumbai is grueling at the last spot in the current points table with the chances of playoff qualification almost getting to nil.
The Red and Gold outfit, who decided to appoint Hardik Pandya as their skipper before the current season, haven’t gone their way as the franchise, and the all-rounder have been subjected to harsh criticism and booing from the crowd since the commencement of the season. Now, it is understood that some of the key players in the franchise have conveyed to the coaching staff the leadership style of Hardik Pandya.
According to an MI official, as was reported by the Indian Express, there isn’t any leadership crisis in the team, instead, the team was used to the captainship style of Rohit Sharma for the past decade and they aren’t able to come to the terms of the new helm. “These are regular teething problems for a team that sees leadership change. This happens in sports all the time,” he said.
Rohit, Surya, and Bumrah among players to question the role
According to the closing close sources of the reporting newspaper, among the players who have been a part of the meeting were MI’s old-horses Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah. Their thoughts also followed Hardik Pandya’s comments on Tilak Varma’s approach following their defeat to Delhi Capitals.
