The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction dates nearing, increasing several speculations regarding players and the franchises ahead of the much-awaited event. Another report has been doing rounds regarding the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). MI will reportedly bid for players like David Warner and Nicholas Pooran in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. MI won their last title in IPL 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. However, after that, the Mumbai-based franchise aren’t having a good time in the cash-rich league.

Mumbai Indians failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2021, IPL 2022 and IPL 2024, finishing in 10th place in 2022 and 2024. However, MI succeeded to reach the playoffs in IPL 2023 but ended up losing to Gujarat Titans in qualifier two in Ahmedabad. Now, MI will be looking to bring their glory days back in IPL 2025 by selecting a strong squad in the mega auction.

MI to bid for David Warner and Nicholas Pooran in IPL 2025 Mega Auction

With the IPL 2025 mega auction to be scheduled in the upcoming months, the franchises might release some of their big players and add new players in the squad. With the latest reports coming, former Australian batter David Warner, and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran are two of the players Mumbai Indians could target in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

David Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden IPL title in 2016, is currently a part of Delhi Capitals. However, due to his poor performances in the last two seasons, it is unlikely that Warner could be in one of DC’s five retentions ahead of IPL 2025 auction. As per latest media reports, if David Warner comes in the auction, MI are likely to make a high bid for him.

On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran, who is currently with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), had a great outing with the bat in the last two IPL editions. However, if LSG releases Nicholas Pooran ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction, Mumbai Indians could be the one to bid for him in the upcoming auction.
