Mumbai Indians (MI) have released their official jersey for the upcoming IPL 2025 edition. The five-time IPL champions haven’t performed as per reputation for the last four editions. They ended their 2022 and 2024 seasons at the bottom of the points table. Last year, Hardik Pandya returned to the camp and was handed captaincy but the star India all-rounder failed to be effective with the leadership role. Appearing in 14 matches, MI got success in only four games and ended the season at the bottom of the tally for the second time in their IPL history. However, the team management has kept faith in Hardik’s leadership potential as the 31-year-old will be seen captaining the side again in the upcoming competition.
Mumbai’s new jersey has brought cheers to the faces of their fans. Taking to X, MI posted a picture of their star players Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Pandya, and Tilak Varma donning the new jerseys. Their caption read, “THIS IS A PROMISE TO YOU आपल्या मुंबईची jersey for the IPL 2025 Season #MumbaiIndians.”
Mumbai will endeavour to quench their trophy drought after five years
Mumbai will look to douse their title thirst by winning the coveted trophy in the upcoming IPL season to begin on March 22, 2025. The league will start with the contest between the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens while Mumbai will begin their campaign with the match against their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
In the previous two seasons, Chennai dominated Mumbai by winning three games. This time, the Men in Blue will look to turn the tables. Back in 2020, Mumbai won their fifth and last title with their five-wicket triumph against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final of the league’s 13th season held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
