Japanese tennis pro Naomi Osaka made a spectacular comeback at the US Open after a gap of two years. Her comeback saw the four-time Grand Slam winner defeating top 10 player Jelena Ostapenko in a hard-earned victory. The Japanese recorded her first top 10 win in four years as she defeated her counterpart in straight sets and finished the first-round match at 6-3, 6-2 in after an hour-long battle.

However, it was not her tennis skills that became talk of the town. Osaka, who missed the tournament last year after the birth of her daughter, stepped onto the court in an outfit full of bows. The Japanese tennis icon was wearing a bright green layered outfit that featured a bow at the back. Not only this, but there were also bows at the ankles of her shoes as well as her headphones.

Naomi collaborated with AMBUSH designer Yoon Ahn and Nike and gave a playful touch to her uniform. Talking about the outfit, she said, “I wouldn’t automatically associate myself with being girlish when I am on the court, but I tend to gravitate toward really beautiful and cute things. I think there’s something cool about making an emphasis.” She said, “It is based on Japanese and Harajuku culture.”

Naomi Osaka breaks down after US Open Round 1 win

After recording her win in the first round at the US Open, Osaka broke down. Opening up on the same, the 26-year-old player said, "I mean, honestly it's like a combination of a lot of different things. I grew up here, so just seeing kids, and then remembering my daughter, but seeing kids coming and watching me play and just remembering that I was a kid, I guess a long time ago, made me very emotional."

She recalled attending Coco Gauff’s semifinal against Karolina Muchova at the US Open 2023 and said that she worried about her future. Gauff said, “Then also just remembering that I came and watched Coco play her semis, and I was in the audience and I didn't know if I was going to be able to play again at this level, and just to play Ostapenko who is such a great player and win that match means a lot to me.”
