Romelu Lukaku has joined Napoli on a permanent transfer after signing a three-year deal worth €30 million with add-ons. After being loaned out by Chelsea to two Italian clubs in the last couple of seasons, the 31-year-old has left the English club, to become a part of Napoli with their club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis confirming the deal by posting "Welcome Romelu" alongside his photo on social media.
In the last couple of years, Romelu Lukaku has played for two Italian clubs, i.e Inter Milan and AS Roma on loan deals from Chelsea. Notably, the Belgium international was sold to the English club for € 100 million by Inter Milan in 2021, but not before he helped his side win the Serie A title in 2020-21 season under Antonio Conte.
Just three years later, Antonio Conte became the coach of Napoli, and Romelu Lukaku has become a part of the Italian club. Napoli are currently in 11th position after the first two matches of the new season.
Massimo Brambati feels Romelu Lukaku is an ideal player for Antonio Conte
Former Serie A defender Massimo Brambati feels that the Belgium international, Romelu Lukaku, is an ideal player for Napoli. The former added that it will be important for Conte to bring Lukaku back to his 2021 self.
Brambati told TMW Radio: "Now Conte must bring Lukaku back to his physical and mental condition like with Inter. It's not easy, but since he's good we'll give him this chance to see the Lukaku of Inter again. "
"He's still the ideal player for Conte, (Victor) Osimhen's departure in this way doesn't bring a minus to the team," he added.
