The Pakistan cricket team have been hit with a massive blow as the side will be without star pacer Naseem Shah. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday confirmed the news of Naseem Shah having sustained a shoulder injury earlier in the Super Fours fixture.
The young Pakistan pacer sustained the injury while trying to stop a boundary during the Super 4s fixture against India which was played for more than 32 hours. The bowler had earlier also had an impact on his right shoulder in the Super 4s fixture against Bangladesh and was out of the field for sometime.
The PCB in their statement further added that he is continuously under observation by the medical team seeing the ODI World Cup 2023 just a less than a month away. Haris Rauf is doubtful for the remainder of the tournament as he did not bowl on the reserve day pf the Pakistan vs India clash as a precautionary measure.
“These two fast bowlers are our assets and the team’s medical panel will provide them the best possible care ahead of the all-important World Cup,” Team doctor Sohail Saleem quoted in a statement released by PCB.
Notably, Zaman Khan has been replaced for Shah in the Asia Cup squad. The right-arm fast bowler joined the team on Wednesday, 13 th September and will continue to train with the squad at the R Premadasa Stadium. Additionally, Shahnawaz Dahani will join the team in Colombo on Thursday, 14 th September.
