England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt became the first batter in the history of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), to cross the 1,000-run mark, which happened during the ongoing final of the 2025 season. Nat Sciver-Brunt, who is playing for Mumbai Indians (MI), reached the coveted milestone as she scored the third run in her innings against Delhi Capitals (DC), at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
For the unversed, after winning the toss, Meg Lanning, the captain of Delhi Capitals, decided to bowl first, they picked up the key wicket of Hayley Matthews early as Marizanne Kapp castled her. Moments later, Nat Sciver-Brunt struck a drive on the up through the cover region on the bowling of Shikha Pandey, collecting two runs, which helped her get to the 1000-run mark in WPL, becoming the first batter to do so.
Shortly after, Marizanne Kapp picked up the second wicket of her spell in the power play stage, sending Yastika Bhatia back into the pavilion for eight runs in 14 balls, giving a couple of early setbacks to MI in their innings. But after that, Nat Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet Kaur have taken control of the team’s batting effort, scoring boundaries consistently, as of this writing.
