The 73rd NBA All-Star game weekend will have the first-ever NBA vs. WNBA “Stephen vs. Sabrina” 3-Point Challenge contest, taking place on Saturday, February 17, from 8 PM ET onwards. It will feature the NBA All-Time 3-point leader Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors taking on Sabrina Ionescu, the WNBA single-season 3-point record holder from the New York Liberty.

From the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the 3-Point Challenge will begin after the Starry 3-Point Contest and before the AT&T Slam Dunk, coming live on TNT. The competition will lead to Stephen Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play. non-profit and Sabrina Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation receives a donation from both the NBA and the WNBA.

For every shot made by Curry and Ionescu, State Farm will donate a sum of money to the NBA Foundation, which is going to be used to support the Black community in their economic empowerment. A regular 3-pointer will have a value of $1,000, while the money ball and the Starry Range Ball will go for $2,000 and $3,000 respectively.

The rules for Stephen Curry vs Sabrina Ionescu will be standard Starry 3-Point ones. It will involve Curry shooting from the NBA 3-Point line with its basketballs, while Ionescu is going to shoot from the WNBA 3-Point line with its basketballs.

Notably, it was Sabrina Ionescu who had challenged Stephen Curry to a 3-Point Challenge after winning the Starry WNBA 3-Point Challenge last year at the WNBA All-Star weekend. She did it after recording 37 points out of a possible 40 to set the single-round event record in both WNBA and NBA.

In January of 2024, Stephen Curry raised the challenge once again during one of his games for the Golden State Warriors, which led to Sabrina Ionescu officially accepting the challenge on social media.
