In a surprising turn of events, the official Facebook account of the NBA, the professional basketball league in North America, was hacked on August 21, Monday. The culprit was none other than the former social media employee of the organization, who had no hesitation in airing out their grievances about the workplace during their time on the job.
Firstly, they reminded everyone about how NBA makes their social media employees work in shifts longer than half the day, without any break sometimes, while paying them a salary which isn’t worth the effort. Then, the focus of attention went towards the Commissioner of the league, Adam Silver, who got called out for the alleged workplace malpractices.

The former employee didn’t stop there, talking about how the health insurance doesn’t kick-in for the employees for the first 90 days in the job. In their parting words, they revealed about resigning from the job at the NBA, while telling everyone to donate to mental health causes.
The viral post on the NBA’s Facebook account, sent out by the former social media employee, read, “How do I log out of this? Haven’t worked here in weeks. Anyway, the NBA overextends its social media employees greatly to the detriment of their health and social lives for a salary of less than $50k annually after taxes.”
“I worked fourteen-hour shifts without breaks at times. Shoutout Adam Silver. We don’t get health insurance until 90 days on the job. That’s silly, isn’t it? Glad I resigned, no need for a job to get in the way of your happiness. Donate to mental health causes”, it further read.
