Pakistan javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem shared a special message for his Indian competitor Neeraj Chopra. Nadeem qualified for the javelin throw final event of World Athletics Championships 2023 on August 25, Friday. Both the Indian-Pakistan athletes will compete in the finale on August 27, Sunday in Budapest, Hungary. While the Indian Olympic gold medallist Chopra secured his spot in the final with a throw of 88.7 m, the Pakistan athlete secured the spot with 86.79m. 

On the final event eve, Nadeem hailed Chopra and wished him luck for the forthcoming event. He said, “Neeraj ke liye best of luck hai. Neeraj bhai, Aap bhi achcha karein, Hum bhi achcha karein. Aur, Inshallah, world mei hamara bhi naam aye” (Neeraj brother, you also do well, and I also do well. I hope I also get my name in the world). 

Notably, the 26-year-old Pakistan athlete is making a comeback after a year long gap. By qualifying for the final of the event, the India-Pakistan athletes have secured their berth for the 2024 Paris Olympics also. 

He posted a picture with Chopra earlier on his Instagram and expressed his camaraderie with the Indian athlete. Speaking of the upcoming event, he said, "My fight is with myself only. I did 90.18m at the Commonwealth Games last year and want to do better than that here. My body feels good. Inshallah, final me maza ayega.”
