The Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While the KKR were coming into their home fixture on the back of a close one-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the Sam Curran-led side entered this match on the back of a four-match losing streak. Earlier in the match, it was Curran, who won the toss and invited the home side to put the score first on the board.
KKR opener Phil Salt came up with a remarkable knock of 75 runs off 37 delivers with Sunil Narine also contributing with a 32-ball 71-run knock. With quick knocks from the other batters, helped KKR put a target of 262 runs. But with the likes of Jonny Bairstow firing all cylinders and crucial knocks from Prabhsimran Singh, Rilee Rossouw and Shashank Singh, the Kings chased the total with eight balls to spare.
