The Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are hosting the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Notably, both teams are coming after a loss in their respective last IPL 2024 fixtures. Earlier in the match, the Iyer-led KKR won the toss and elected to field first.
After being invited to bat first, the KL Rahul-led LSG posted 161/7 in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy a 32-ball 45-run knock from Nicholas Pooran after KL Rahul added 39 runs and a 27-ball 29-run knock from Ayush Badoni.
In the pursuit of 162-run target, it was Sunil Narine and Philip Salt, who took the guards in the middle for KKR. With the ball, LSG introduced their debutant Shamar Joseph. As the match progressed, the Guyanese player had a forgettable opening over as he conceded 22 runs which included two wides and as many no-balls. With this spell, he bowled one the longest spell in IPL history.

The West Indies pacer was bought in by the Lucknow Super Giants as Mark Wood’s replacement. He was roped in after his match-winning heroics against Australia earlier this. The 24-year-old picked up a total of 13 wickets in his first two Tests, which also included a sever-wicket haul to register the famous Test win over Australia at The Gabba in Brisbane.
