The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team had a horrific season at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. While they won four games from the nine matches in the league stage of the tournament, New Zealand’s win over Sri Lanka ensured them the exit door virtually , with their 93-run defeat at the hands of reigning champions, England confirmed their elimination from the flagship tournament.
While this hasn’t rested well among a lot of cricketers and their fans yet, former Pakistan cricketer, Mohammad Amir, while speaking on a Pakistani TV show also spoke of Babar Azam. The former pacer when asked by a fan on what would Amir call Azam on the field, “Babar Azam of Bobzy the King”, Amir clarified that Babar is definitely a great player, he called to come out of Babar Azam.
“Meri nazar mein na ab niklo Babar Azam se. Aur bhi 15 ladke hai jinhone Pakistan ko akele matche jitaye hai. Babar Azam is a very good player. King wing sirf ground pe acha lagta hai, ground ke bahar nahi,” he said. The video of the same has been doing rounds on social media.

Talking about Pakistan’s campaign at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, while they got two back-to-back wins to kickstart their World Cup, but suffered four consecutive losses, one of which came against Afghanistan. The Men in Green got back their A-game to register two more wins thereafter but suffered to a 93-run loss against England to end their campaign at fifth place.
