virat kohli odi

Virat Kohli gave his fans a lot to cheer about when he scored his 73rd international century against Sri Lanka in the first ODI, played on Tuesday. The 34-year-old scored 113 runs off 87 balls and also won the Player of the Match award for his knock. The batter was also quite happy with his performance and has hoped to build on this momentum in the World Cup year.

With Kohli starring with the bat, he is expected to feature in the playing XI for the second ODI. However, a piece of news related to Kohli has left fans worried. It’s been reported that Kohli has not travelled to Kolkata from Guwahati where the second ODI is scheduled to take place while the rest of the squad has already landed in the city. So, is Kohli still in Guwahati? If not, then where is he?

To answer these questions, Kohli’s daughter, Vamika turned 2 on Wednesday (11 January) and hence the batter has travelled to Mumbai instead of Kolkata to celebrate her birthday. So, does that mean Kohli will miss the second ODI? No, Virat Kohli will play in the second ODI scheduled for 12 January. He will fly to Kolkata from Mumbai on Thursday morning and will take part in the match that starts at 1:30 PM IST.

Coming back to Vamika’s second birthday, the star batter also shared a heartfelt post for her daughter. Kohli shared a candid of him with Vamika while writing “My heartbeat is 2” in the caption.

Kohli's wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma also shared a post for Vamika. Sharma also shared a candid with her daughter. "Two years ago my heart grew wide open," wrote Sharma in the caption of her post.

The second ODI will be played at Eden Gardens.
