Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal hasn’t been seen playing for India for more than one and a half year. The last match Chahal played for India was a T20I against West Indies in August 2023. Since then, the star bowler couldn’t find a place in the Indian team. In his recent interview, Chahal talked about his much-awaited return to the Indian team. He was last picked in India’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup but didn’t get to play a single match in the tournament.
Yuzvendra Chahal is now India’s second highest wicket taker in the T20I format with 96 scalps and is also the first player to reach the milestone of 200 wickets in the IPL. However, the leg spinner isn’t being considered in India’s white-ball for more than a year. “I don’t think about what is not in my hands," Chahal said on his comeback as quoted in News18.
It was fun bowling with him: Yuzvendra Chahal on Kuldeep Yadav
While Yuzvendra Chahal was a regular member of the Indian team, he formed a great pair with fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav and both the players used to compliment each other on the field. Speaking further, Chahal also spoke about his bonding with Kuldeep. “I have loved bowling with Kuldeep. We enjoy a great bonding, on and off the field. It shows," Chahal said.
“It was fun bowling with him because we have a similar approach to bowling. Both of us love to attack. It was also partnership bowling. When one of us would go for runs, the other would make it tighter from the other end. We always trusted each other," he further added.
Yuzvendra Chahal will now be seen playing for Punjab Kings in the upcoming edition of the IPL 2025. The franchise roped him in for a whopping INR 18 crore making his him the highest paid spinner in the history of the league.
