Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, has credited his new coach and former rival Andy Murray for “bringing a fresh look” to his game ahead of the new season of tennis. After naming Andy Murray as his new coach last month, Novak Djokovic is set to play his first tournament, the Brisbane International 2024-25, with a opening round clash in men’s singles against Rinky Hijikata next week, heading into the new year.

Notably, the Briton, Andy Murray, won’t be working alongside Novak Djokovic during the Brisbane International, but they are expected to reunite before the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open 2025, which will begin on January 12. Djokovic had earlier spoken about how he is going to work with Murray until the conclusion of the Australian Open at the Melbourne Park before deciding whether their partnership has a long-term prospect.

I think he's bringing a fresh look to my game and I'll be able to benefit from that: Djokovic on Murray

In one of his recent interviews, Novak Djokovic praised Andy Murray for providing him a unique perspective on his game after becoming his new coach, which he hopes to be beneficial for him in the 2025 season of tennis during his quest for the record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. He was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “He (Andy Murray) has a unique perspective on my game as one of the greatest rivals I've had. He knows the pros and cons of my game.

Djokovic spoke about Murray’s knowledge about the strength and weaknesses of top players on tour since he retired earlier this year from the sport. The Serbian said, “He (Andy Murray) played until recently on the tour, so he knows all the other best players currently in the world, the youngsters, and the weaknesses and strengths in their game. I look forward to it, I really do.”

“I think he's bringing a fresh look to my game and I'll be able to benefit from that, no doubt, on the court. But also that champion mentality he has, I'm sure we'll match very well,” Novak Djokovic further commented about the presence of Andy Murray in his coaching staff.
