World number 3 ranked tennis sensation Novak Djokovic cruised past Spain’s A. Davidovich Fokina in the Round of 32 match to make a place in the fourth round of the French Open 2023. The Serbian beat his Spanish opponent 7-6, 7-6, 6-2 to seal a place in the Round of 16. The 36-year-old will now see J. Varillas in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

After his Round of 32 win over Fokina, Djokovic addressed the press conference where he was showered by a few Serbian journalists. The Serb could not contain his laughter as he was offered some bananas, water, dates and a magnet at the press conference in time to stay fit for his next match. Video of the same is now going viral on social media.

This gesture by journalists comes after the World No. 3 gestured towards his team after his second round win in the tournament. Later after his win, he was asked about it and he replied, “Bananas, dates and water.” “I mean, I don’t understand. I ask them every time and they don’t understand me. So I show them this (gesturing), it means banana, this means dates and this means water. And they don’t understand,” he further completed.

It is to be noted that the Serb has been in the limelight as he started the tournament making a shocking statement after his Round of 128 win. Djokovic earlier made a political statement by writing on the camera after his Round 1 win, which read, “Kosovo is the (heart symbol) of Serbia. Stop the violence.” However, no action has been taken into the matter as yet, the KOC has called for IOC and ITF to take a disciplinary action.
