Fans wait lifelong to meet their star players. A fan might know how long it would take to achieve this dream of theirs. In a coincidence, a lifelong fan of Novak Djokovic got a chance to meet her idol randomly on the streets of Monte Carlo, Monaco during a recent trip. The 22-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic was happy to oblige her with a handshake and a small chat to create a lasting memory.

The fan accounted for her meeting with Djokovic on her Instagram account @raquel_asthetic_np. In the post, the fan shared her experience on having a one-on-one meeting with the great of the game.

“The beauties of this (Monaco) trip were many but the highlight, the absolute icing on the cake, was this chance meeting with @djokernole”, she started with while talking about her post. She mentioned the fact that her fandom for Novak Djokovic started when he won his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in 2008, while her fandom for tennis began in 1997 itself.

Initially during her trip to Monaco, she was lamenting about missing out on the Monte Carlo Masters and watching Djokovic in person from April 8 onwards, because her trip was due to end beforehand. But upon learning that Novak Djokovic lives in Monte Carlo, she became hopeful of seeing him walking down the street.

And as fate would have it, she ended up seeing Djokovic in flesh and blood with another person while he was using his phone. She instinctively said his name out loud, but he did not hear and within seconds he disappeared into an exclusive building. That made her feel disheartened.

But luckily, about an hour or so later, Djokovic was walking in her direction and then she finally got the chance to meet with him. She described her experience on the Insta post as wonderful and wrote, “Novak was as warm and inviting as ever. He held his hand out to shake mine and listened to me as I told him what I thought of him and his tennis.”
