Former AlphaTauri driver Nyck De Vries has revealed that he plans to study a leadership and negotiation course at Harvard University. Since being let go from the AlphaTauri team ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Dutch driver has been spending time introspecting about himself and playing golf. De Vries only lasted ten races with the AlphaTauri team before being let go by the organization ahead of a dreadful showing. While many fans felt that the young driver hadn’t been given enough of an opportunity to prove himself at the highest level, many conceded that both parties might be able to escape the rut they were stuck in with a clean break.

De Vries isn’t in any hurry to return to racing, though, and the driver is going to spend more time exploring other avenues. In particular, he wants to complete a course in leadership and negotiation from Harvard.

De Vries stated as quoted by Racing News 365, “I've never studied before in my life, in fact, I didn't even finish high school. But in September, I'm going to take a course at Harvard. Negotiation and Leadership, a little bit of studying. More because I just like it now that I have some time and the interest to learn other things."

He also revealed that he has been spending a lot of time golfing during his off-time after the dismissal.

De Vries says dismissal was easy to take because of family support

Nyck De Vries said he took the dismissal from AlphaTauri rather well, thanks to the support of family and friends.

When asked if he reacted to the dismissal badly, De Vries said, "Actually [I didn’t take it poorly]. I had a lot of support and it actually went very naturally. I've been playing a lot of golf since then."

De Vries was one of only two drivers, alongside Williams rookie Logan Sargeant, to not record a single top 10 finish in the season. While AlphaTauri’s sister team Red Bull dominated the season, they languished in last place. Eventually Red Bull made the decision to dismiss De Vries and bring veteran driver David Ricciardo back on their team.
