On September 26, Tuesday, Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, just as tomorrow’s date to finalise the players bound for India approached, as per the ICC regulation. In a major shock, Tamim Iqbal, one of the finest batters of Bangladesh in its cricketing history, is set to miss the quadrennial event, seemingly due to a persistent back injury.

For the unversed, Tamim Iqbal made his return to Bangladesh setup against New Zealand in the second ODI of the series on September 23, after reversing his decision to retire from the format earlier this year. He scored 44 off 58 balls with seven fours at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, but the team lost the match by 86 runs.

Moreover, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) were scheduled to announce the 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 on September 26, Tuesday, 5:45 PM, but then, they delayed it until the third ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand finishes. Just after the visitors won the final match by seven wickets to clinch the series 2-0, the squad announcement was finally made.
