The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has finally announced the replacement of injured Reece Topley for the remainder of ODI World Cup 2023. The Three Lions have called in Brydon Carse as Topley’s replacement after the latter sustained a fracture in his fingers during the match against South Africa in Mumbai.

Notably, the England cricket board on Sunday, October 22 in an official statement confirmed the departure of Topley after he had fractured his left index finger during England’s defeat to South Africa on Saturday, October 21. The England Cricket took to X to confirm the replacement of Topley, captioning, “Brydon Carse will replace Reece Topley in our World Cup squad for the remainder of the tournament. Welcome, Carsey”.
It is to be further added that the South Africa born England cricketer will join the side in Bengaluru ahead of their match against Sri Lanka on Thursday. However, the 28-year-old is unlikely to be considered for selection in that match, despite having played his last game four weeks ago.
Talking about the numbers, Carse has featured in one of England’s four-match ODI series against New Zealand. He earlier impressed in the T20I series and has also featured in the second string squad against Ireland.
