Australia, the five-time ODI World Cup champions, will compete against Netherlands, one of the qualifiers, in their opening warm-up match of the tournament. The Australian cricket team played a bilateral series against the hosts a few days ago, in which they lost by 2-1, in spite of securing a win in the final ODI by 66 runs.
The upcoming contest against the Dutch would be ideal for the team from down under to put the final touches to their preparations for the quadrennial spectacle. For the Netherlands, it will be important to play against a high-ranked opponent before the ODI World Cup 2023 round-robin stage begins, to have the best possible chance to have a good tournament in the next month or so.
Talking about the weather for the Australia versus Netherlands warm-up match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, a lot of thunderstorms with a full chance of rain are expected, which could lead to a shortened day’s work for both teams.
The temperature could reach up to 28 degrees Celsius, but the excruciatingly high humidity levels at the venue could cause issues for players if the play continues for long hours.
