As the Kiwis will miss skipper Kane Williamson, as the veteran was ruled out with a knee injury despite taking the field in the warm-up fixtures recently. The Kiwis have been hit much more as stand-in skipper Tom Latham at the pre-match post conference confirmed that Tim Southee will also miss out from the side.

“Yeah, so obliviously no Kane and no Tim as well. He’s (Southee) unavailable for selection in terms of what happened to this thumb a couple of weeks ago, but he’s recovering nicely. I think he’s nearly two weeks post-surgery so finger crossed he can keep recovering,” Tim Southee was quoted by Indian Express.
“It’s a bit of a day-by-day process with him in terms of what that looks like too. But fingers crossed he’ll be available sooner rather than later as well,” he further added.
