Olympic bronze medallist Ronald Levy failed a doping test conducted by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission. The hurdler was informed by the governing body that he failed an out-of-competition conducted last month. Levy, who won a bronze medal for his country in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the 110m hurdles, took to Instagram to say that he was surprised by the result.
Not only this, but the athlete also said that he didn’t knowingly breach any rules and is waiting for his ‘B-sample’ test. The 31-year-old wrote, “Early last month, I was tested out of season. I expected to be negative on that test like I have been on every test I have ever taken throughout my career. I was surprised to receive a letter on Tuesday (November 2, 2023) by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission of an adverse analytical finding. I have decided to take the option to have my B-sample tested, of which I await the results.”
The Jamaican added, “I am stunned at the turn of events because I have always conducted myself with the highest level of integrity in the sport, which I love dearly and would never seek to gain an unfair advantage. I intend to defend my integrity during this process because I am certain I did not knowingly breach the rules. Out of respect for the process I will not comment further until the process is concluded.”
Notably, Levy recently changed his training camps by leaving MVP Track Club and joined his high school coach at Elite Performance.
