Fast bowler Andrew Tye registered a five-wicket haul while playing for Gujarat Lions in an IPL clash against Rising Pune Supergiant at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on April 14, 2017. His spell also included a hat-trick in the last over as RPS failed to get enough runs with GL chasing it in 18 overs to register a seven-wicket win.

Coming to bat first after losing the toss, RPS lost their opening batter Ajinkya Rahane for a duck on the very first over. After that, Rahul Tripathi and captain Steve Smith added 64 runs for the second wicket before Andrew Tye struck to dismiss Tripathi on 33(17) runs. After a few overs, Smith lost his wicket after scoring 43(28) runs. Andrew Tye struck again in the 13th over as he cleared Ben Stokes’ stumps which saw RPS were reduced to 106/4 in 12.2 overs.

In the middle overs, Manoj Tiwary scored 31(27) runs while Ankit Sharma scored quickfire 25(15) runs as Rising Pune Supergiants were looking in good position to get to the 180-run mark. After that, Andrew Tye, who had already taken two wickets earlier came to bowl the last over of the innings and struck on the very first ball to dismiss Ankit Sharma. On the very next ball, Tye dismissed Tiwary as both the set batters were back to the pavilion.

On the third ball of the over, Andrew Tye cleared Shardul Thakur’s stumps to not only complete his famous hat-trick, but also register a five-wicket haul. He conceded only four runs in the last over as RPS posted 171/8. Tye registered the figures of 5/17 in his four overs. In reply, Gujarat Lions chased the winning target comfortably in 18 overs, losing three wickets.
