The unbeatable Team India went on to win another Test series at home after a five-wicket win against England at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on February 26, 2024. Despite trailing in the first innings, Rohit Sharma-led Indian team dominated the hosts in the second innings and went on to register a convincing win with young players like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel taking charge.
Coming to bat after winning the toss, England were bowled out for 353 runs in the first innings with Joe Root top scoring with an unbeaten 122*(274) runs, hitting 10 boundaries. Apart from that, Ollie Robinson also contributed with 58 runs off 96 balls with nine fours and a six. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets, Akash Deep scalped three, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets and one wicket respectively.
Dhruv Jurel registered match-winning performance in second Test of his career
In reply to England’s 353, India were bowled out for 307 runs as the visitors took a lead of 46 runs. For India, Dhruv Jurel who was playing the second Test match of his career, top scored with a knock of 90(149) runs, hitting six fours and four sixes. Apart from that, Yashasvi Jaiswal also contributed with 73(117) runs with eight fours and a six. After that the Indian bowlers took charge as they bowled England out for 145 runs in the second innings needing 192 runs to win the match. Zak Crawley scored a fighting 60 runs while Ravichandran Ashwin ended up taking 5 wickets for India.
Chasing the winning target, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front and played a captain’s knock of 55(81) runs. Apart from that, Shubman Gill also scored an unbeaten 52*(124) runs while Dhruv Jurel gave finishing touches with 38*(77) runs as India chased the winning target in fourth day of the Test match and ensured a series win by 3-1 with one match to go.
