Indian batter Prithvi Shaw is one of those cricketers who got a great start to their international career , but couldn’t continue the same momentum. From being the Under-19 World Cup winning captain to scoring a hundred in his Test debut, Shaw was being looked at as a next big thing in cricket in 2018. However, some controversies and poor form at the highest level has put his international career in the doldrums. Regardless, Prithvi Shaw is celebrating his 25th birthday on November 9, 2024.

Prithvi Shaw was having the best time of his career at the age of 18, when he led the junior Indian team to the Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2018. After a few months, Shaw got an opportunity to make his Test debut for India in a match against West Indies in Rajkot on October 4, 2018. The 18-year-old made it memorable by scoring 134 runs in his maiden Test innings, and became the second youngest Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar to score a hundred in Test cricket.

Apart from his maiden century, Prithvi Shaw has also scored two fifties in his Test career. The right-hander has played five Test matches in his career so far, scoring 339 runs at an average of 42.37. However, he hasn’t been playing red-ball cricket for India since December 2020.
