
Mumbai Indians star Rohit Sharma achieved another feat in his IPL career during a match against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on April 7, 2024. During DC’s innings, Rohit took a catch on Gerald Coetzee’s delivery to dismiss Jhye Richardson. With this, the former MI captain became the fourth player in IPL history to take 100 catches in the cash–rich league. He is now fifth in the list of players with most catches in the IPL with 101 catches so far.
Talking about the match, MI defeated DC by 29 runs in a high-scoring clash at Wankhede. Batting first, MI posted 234 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. Rohit Sharma top scored with 49(27) runs, while Ishan Kishan and Tim David scored 42(23) runs and 45*(21) runs respectively. Apart from that, skipper Hardik Pandya also contributed with 39(33) runs, while Romario Shepherd scored a quickfire 39*(10) runs as MI crossed the 230-run mark. For DC, Anrich Nortje and Axar Patel scalped two wicket each while Khaleel Ahmed put one in his bag.

Chasing the winning target, DC opener Prithvi Shaw scored 66 runs off 40 balls. Apart from that, Abishek Porel also contributed with 41(31) runs while Tristan Stubbs top scored with a quickfire 71(25) runs. However, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for longer as DC were restricted at 205/8 in their 20 overs.
For MI, Gerald Coetzee registered figures of 4/34 in his spell of four overs. He got his fourth wicket on the last ball of the innings in which Rohit Sharma completed is 100th catch in the IPL. Along with him, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, while Romario Shepherd put one in his bag.
