
Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar broke the barrier of 200 runs in an ODI innings after he became the first-ever batter in history to score a double ton in a 50-over format. The star batter scored 200 runs in a match against South Africa in Gwalior on February 24, 2010. With this, Sachin also started a trend of scoring 200 runs in an ODI innings, which also saw many great batters achieving the same milestone in the white-ball format.
India were coming with a lead of 1-0 in a three–match ODI series and were looking to take an unassailable lead of 2-0 as both teams met for the second ODI in Gwalior. After that, Sachin Tendulkar took charge with the bat and guided India to total of more than 400 runs in their 40 overs.

Batting first, Sachin Tendulkar gave India a good start and put up a partnership of 194 runs for the second wicket along with Dinesh Karthik (79 off 85). After that, Yusuf Pathan also contributed with 36(23) runs, while MS Dhoni played a captain’s knock of 68* runs off 35 balls as India posted 401/3 in their 50 overs. Sachin was the man of the hour for his historic knock of 200 runs off 147 balls hitting 25 fours and three sixes. India went on win the match by a huge margin of 153 runs.
Along with Sachin Tendulkar, 11 players have smashed a double hundred in ODI cricket so far. Five out of these 11 players are from India with Rohit Sharma scoring most ODI double hundreds with three to his name. The record for the highest individual score in ODIs for his knock of 264 runs against Sri Lanka in 2014.
