In match 42 of the ODI World Cup 2023, Afghanistan are taking on South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side won the toss and opted to bat first, posting 244 runs on the board, courtesy, a well-deserved knock from Azmatullah Omarzai.

While the Afghans had a decent start, scoring 41 runs off the first eight overs, but kept losing wickets thereafter. While they stood in a state of bother with the scoreboard reading 116/6, Azmatullah Omarzai stitched a crucial 49-run stand with Rahmat Shah, followed by another important 40-plus runs partnerships with Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed. But an unfortunate run-out of Naveen-ul-Haq on the final ball of the inning, led to Omarzai missing a century.
Not only did this left him disappointed, his team in the dugout was also left disheartened. However, even the fans could not resist Azmatullah missing a crucial ton as fans took social media on fire hailing his crucial knock.
