Ahead of the Japan Grand Prix 2023, McLaren have confirmed their one seat until 2026. McLaren has signed a multi-year contract extension with Oscar Piastri, that will keep the Australian with the British side until the 2026 season.

The young Aussie already had a deal with the British team until 2024, further firming their association and extending it to 2026 now, looking at the long-time future. The 22-year-old rookie will continue with his partner at McLaren for at least two more years after the side extended Lando Norris’ contract until 2025.
McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella confirmed this move, stating, “It’s fantastic to confirm that Oscar has signed a multi-year extension with the team. Oscar is an asset to McLaren and constantly impresses with his performance, work ethic and attitude, so it was an easy decision for the team to take.”
Piastri, also was thrilled to extend his partnership with the team. “I want to be fighting it out at the front of the grid with this team and I am excited by the vision and foundations that are already being laid to get us there,” Oscar Piastri said. “2026. Very happy. Big smile,” he posted with a picture of himself smiling.
The Australia joined McLaren after a lengthy battle between the British team and Alpine, with the former bagging him. The 22-year-old stepped into the F1 circuit after winning both Formula 3 and Formula 2 championship. The young talent impressed in his first F1 season, scoring 42 points and finishing second in the sprint race at the Belgian Grand Prix.
