South Africa are currently hosting India in a multi-format tour, which kickstarted early in December 2023. While the three-match T20I series was drawn with both winning a match, while one of them was abandoned due to persistent rain. Currently, the sides are squaring off in a three-match ODI series, which stands 1-1 with one match to go.  

While India won the first ODI by eight wickets, the Proteas Men thumped their authority winning the second by a similar margin on Tuesday, 19th December. But ahead of the third and final ODI, the hosts have been handed a blow as they will miss out on Ottniel Baartman and all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo due to respective injuries. While the pacer suffered a right-side strain, Phehlukwayo also sustained a side strain in the first ODI.

The Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named Beuran Hendricks as the replacement of the injured players. The 33-year-old who was part of the T20I side will feature in the final match. Beuran Hendricks conceded 34 runs in his 9.2 overs in the second ODI, scalping two wickets to his name.

Talking about the second ODI, the Aiden Markram-led side invited the visitors to bat first after winning the toss. The KL Rahul’s men posted 211 in 46.2 overs, with half centuries from Sai Sudharsan (62) and the skipper (56) himself. However, a brilliant batting display from the hosts helped them seal the match in 42.3 overs. While Tony de Zorri scored an unbeaten half-century, Reeza Hendricks also played a crucial 52-run knock up the order.
