The former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, appreciated the comments of Rohit Sharma, the current India captain, in regard to the potential resumption of bilateral series between both the countries. Notably, Rohit Sharma had spoken about how he would love to play against Pakistan when Michael Vaughan asked him about it on the Club Prairie Fire podcast recently.

During his podcast appearance, Rohit Sharma alluded to how Pakistan are a good team with a superb bowling lineup, which could lead to a good contest between them and India, if they play overseas. The 36-year-old reiterated the fact that the last time India faced Pakistan in a Test match was back in 2007-08 season before admitting that he would love to play against them in the longest format of the game.

The captain of the Indian cricket team also said, “We play them in ICC trophies, pure cricket I am looking at, great contest, so why not?”

Bahut acha jawab hai, hona bhi yahi chahiye: Shahid Afridi on IND vs PAK bilateral series

Shahid Afridi, who had made an appearance on Samaa TV, shared his thoughts on the recent comments from Rohit Sharma in regard to India playing Test cricket against Pakistan. He said, as per Hindustan Times, “Bilkul bahut acha jawab hai, hona bhi yahi chahiye (very good answer, the series should happen). A positive statement from an Indian captain. He is also an ambassador of India.”

“We have always said that the relationship between Pakistan and India.....sports - especially cricket - has played an important role in it. We used to go to India and play cricket there. These things build relationships....padosi hai padosiyo ka haq hota relationship jitna behtar ho utna acha hai (it's neighbours right to have a good relationship),” added Shahid Afridi.

Moreover, India and Pakistan are slated to play their next cricket match on June 9, during the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They will compete at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in East Meadow, New York, the USA.
