On Wednesday night, Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals stunned hosts Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a dominating six-wicket win in just 8.5 overs. Delhi bowlers were at their absolute best as each bowler except Kuldeep Yadav picked up at least a wicket. In his first over, Kuldeep Yadav was spotted losing his cool on teammate Mukesh Kumar over a needless throw.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 16 runs in 11 balls and registered two catches and stumping each to win the Player of the Match award while Mukesh Sharma led the Capitals' bowling attack as he picked three wickets in just 2.3 overs and gave away just 14 runs.
After winning the toss, DC invited Gujarat to bat first and reduced them to four wickets in the first five overs. Kuldeep Yadav was introduced to bowling in the eighth over when GT were lingering at 39 runs for four wickets. On the penultimate delivery of his first over, GT's Rahul Tewatia poked Kuldeep's full-length delivery to the point and non-striker Abhinav Manohar reached almost halfway down the pitch. Tewatia sent back Manohar while Mukesh Kumar attempted a run-out at the bowler's end.
However, Kuldeep wasn't able to collect Mukesh's throw, which was off the target, and that could lead to a possible overthrow. Reacting to the throw, Kuldeep lashed out at Mukesh as he was heard on the stump mic saying, "Pagal-vagal hai kya? (Are you mad?)" After the incident, Pant quickly approached Kuldeep and calmed him. Despite not picking up a wicket, Kuldeep ended up with a 4-0-16-0 bowling figure.

In the IPL 2024 points table, DC overtook GT to manage the sixth spot as the win provided them with a better run rate than last year's runners-up. Both DC and GT managed three wins and four losses in their seven matches as the Capitals are placed sixth while the Titans have managed the seventh spot.
