Pakistan men's cricket team will be up against Sri Lanka in the final clash of the Asia Cup 2022 on September 11 (Sunday) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ahead of highly anticipated clash, Babar Azam-led side has received good news as premium pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has been declared fit and is likely to be part of the playing XI against Sri Lanka.
Earlier, 24-year-old right-arm-fast medium pacer sustained a leg injury during Pakistan's group-stage clash against Hong Kong and missed the all-important game against arch-rivals India. However, PCB on Friday announced that the pacer has been declared fit ahead of the mega-clash. The board further informed that Shahnawaz participated in the bowling practice at full speed at the Dubai International Stadium.
Notably, Mohammad Hasnain replaced Dahani earlier and impressed everyone with his outstanding pace and wicket-taking abilities. Speaking of Pakistan's Asia Cup 2022 campaign, Men in Green had a troubled start to the continental tournament as Babar Azam & boys were defeated by Team India in their opening clash. But the team bounced back strongly and remained unbeaten till the last Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Pakistan defeated Hong Kong in the league stage and avenged their defeat against India in their first matches at Super-4 stage, Pakistan's young pacer Naseem Shah smashed back-to-back sixes in the last over of the match against Afghanistan to win their second match at Super-4 stage.
Pakistan batters were bundled out for 121/10 in 19.1 overs in their last Super 4 stage clash against Sri Lanka, which saw Wanindu Hasaranga picking up three wickets, while Theekshana and Pramod Madushan finished the game with two wickets. In response, Sri Lankan batters held their nerve and successfully chased down the target with five-wickets in hand. Both the sides will face each other for the final time in the T20 tournament seeking to become Asian champions.
