Pakistan pacer Sohail Khan Sohail Khan announced retirement from all formats of the game on Sunday, September 3. The 39-year-old cricketer, who hails from Malakand Division in the North-West Frontier Province called it quits in a social media post.

 

The now retired Pakistan pacer, who has amassed 27 wickets in Tests, 19 in ODIs and five in T20Is, however confirmed that he will continue to feature in domestic white-ball and franchise cricket. “After a thorough consultation with my close ones, I’ve decided to retire from international & First Class Cricket. Big thank you to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans, and everyone who supported me,” he captioned the post.

 

“I would continue playing domestic white ball & franchise”, he further confirmed.

Fondly known as ‘Sohail Pathan’ in Pakistan, Khan came into the picture during the 2007-08 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy season. He was later reckoned for amassing 65 wickets in his first nine matches, which also included eight five-wicket-hauls. The 39-year-old even shattered Fazal Mahmood’s national record with his second ten-wicket match haul.
