In the rematch of last year's title clash in Kuala Lumpur, Advani was behind 26-180 in the first hour but gradually clawed back to beat Sourav Kothari, who lost steam as he was playing his second game after a short break.
The fatigue caused Kothari to make a few mistakes as Pankaj Advani zoomed back with a couple of 150-plus breaks. Sourav Kothari still had a few openings but Advani with a break of 214, the highest of the match, surged forward. Finishing off the final, the Bengaluru native reached the 1000 mark with an unfinished break of 199 to clinch his 26th title.
Talking about this performance, Advani stressed how he strives to achieve consistency and push to win more titles for India. He said: "I have won before so I know how it feels, but to repeat it year on year is what makes all those hours of work on skill, body and mind totally worth it. To me, consistency is the hallmark of success and continuing to bring home world titles for the country is what drives me the most."
