Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya suffered a heartbreaking loss against Pak Sol Gum of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea after injuring her right arm in the quarterfinal of the women's 68kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics 2024. Making her debut at the Summer Games, Dahiya completed a comeback 6-4 win over Ukraine’s Tetiana Sova Rizhko in the 1/8 elimination round.

In the  quarterfinal  bout,  Nisha Dahiya had an incredible start as she took a commanding four-point lead. The Indian turned her Korean opponent but failed to pin and took a massive early advantage.  Pak Sol Gum soon registered her first point of the contest but Dahiya lifted the Korean and pushed her down to take two more points.

After going 6-1 up, Nisha Dahiya was in full control as she registered two more points by turning Pak Sol Gum but hurt her arm in the process and received some medical attention. Dahiya was pushed out of the bound as she battled pain which gave the Korean wrestler her second point. With an injured right arm, the Indian was at a severe disadvantage as  Pak Sol Gum levelled the score 8-8 and then took the win with a 10-8.

Nisha Dahiya became the fifth Indian women's wrestler to confirm a 2024 Paris Olympics quota after prevailing over her Romanian opponent Alexandra Anghel. The World U-23 bronze medallist and Asian Championships silver medallist beat her opponent by an 8-4 margin.  

Dahiya is joined by  Antim Phangal (53kg), Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika Hooda (76kg) in the Indian contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024.
