India’s first individual Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra penned an emotional note for shooter Arjun Babuta on Monday who finished fourth in the men’s 10m air rifle at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian shooter registered a score of 208.4 in his 20 shots to remain in contention for a medal bronze along with Miran Maricic of Croatia but eventually missed by 0.9 points.
At the 10m air rifle final, Bindra was invited to be part of a Red Batton ritual where the Indian shooter had to tap this Batton thrice to kick off the ceremony. In the final, Babuta had a brilliant start and maintained a position in the top three but dropped to fourth spot after the 18th shot and missed a medal on his Olympic debut.

Commending Arjun Babuta for his incredible performance, Abhinav Bindra shared a tweet that said, "Arjun, congratulations on your inspiring performance today. You came so close, and your dedication shone through every shot. I couldn't be more proud of your composure under pressure. This performance is just the beginning and am sure a sign of things to come. Keep pushing, keep believing. The entire nation stands behind you."
Before Arjun Babuta, India had to settle for another heartbreak in shooting as Indian shooter Ramita Jindal finished seventh in the women's 10m air rifle final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with a total score of 145.3 points. Ramita had a shoot-off with France's Oceanne Muller for elimination but fell short after scoring 10.5 to Muller's 10.8.
