India’s ‘Golden Boy” Neeraj Chopra on Tuesday, August 6 qualified for the finals of men’s javelin throw of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 26-year-old threw a massive 89.34m in his first attempt to breach the qualification mark at the Summer Games on Tuesday.
With this throw, Neeraj also registered his season best mark, while it was also his Olympics best throw. On the other hand, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem also breached the qualification in his first attempt after registering a throw of 86.59m, along with Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who threw 88.63m.
Kishore Jena fails to qualify for men’s javelin throw final
Neeraj Chopra’s compatriot, Kishore Jena however, failed to qualify for the finals as he finished ninth in Group A with his best throw of 80.73m, which came in his first attempt. In the Group A which included Julian Weber, Julius Yego and Jakub Vadlejch as some of the stars, qualified for the finals.
The final of the men’s javelin throw is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 8 at the Stade de France in Paris.
