Indian latest shooting sensation Manu Bhaker missed out on her third medal of Paris Olympics 2024. Bhaker finished on fourth spot with 28 points in the final event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre on August 3. Had Manu found a podium finish, she would have taken her personal medal tally to three and India’s overall medal tally to four at the 33rd edition of Summer Games.
Bhaker started with two hits and three misses in the first series, and had four bits in the second series. In the third series, Manu scored four hits and was tied at second spot with four shooters. She then shot the first elimination series of three and had score of 13 and was tied at the sixth spot. The 22-year-old finished in fourth spot as she shots 3 in the shoot off. With this, Bhaker ended her Paris 2024 campaign with two bronze medals.
In the qualifying event of her pet event, Bhaker finished at second position with a total of 590 points. Manu Bhaker had already scripted history as she became the first athlete in Independent India to win two medals in a single Olympics edition. After clinching a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol, Manu won bronze along with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. This will be Manu's third final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In the women’s 10m air pistol, Manu missed the silver medal by just 0.1 point but made up for it by adding another bronze to her bucket. For the unversed, Bhaker and Singh defeated the South Korean duo of Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho by 16-10.
