India’s mixed team consisting of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh on Tuesday, July 30 bagged second medal for country. The Indian duo defeated Korean duo of Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho by 16-10 margin to win bronze for India at the Paris Olympics 2024 at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
With this win, Manu Bhaker became first Indian female athlete to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Summer Games. The Indian pair got better of the South Korean pair, with Bhaker winning her second bronze, after her bronze medal win in the women’s air pistol event. The Indian duo defeated the Korean pair 16-10, who finished fourth with 579 points and 18 perfect shots. Moreover, the 22-year-old Haryana athlete also became the first athlete in independent India to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
It is to be noted that a total of three Indian athletes have managed to win two medals in the Olympics, namely, Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar and PV Sindhu. In the 10m air pistol mixed team qualification, Manu and Sarabjot finished third with a total of 580 points and 20 perfect shots.
After the bronze medal match, the Turkish team of Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec, who equalled the qualification Olympic record with 582 points, will face Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec of Serbia in the gold medal match at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre in the French capitals in Paris.
