With the 2024 Paris Olympics just round the corner, it will see several countries from a total of 206 participate across 15 categories. Moreover, the sport which has been in the roster of the Olympic Games since the first modern Games in Athens since 1896, will see India feature one of its largest contingents.

Moreover, the shooting events will be played from July 27 till August 5 at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, which is located near the French capital. Here in this article, we’ll take a look at the list of Indian athletes and the categories and its schedule at the Paris Olympics.

Shooting at Paris Olympics 2024: Schedule, venue, categories and more

The shooting events will run from July 27 till August 5, 2024. The events will be held at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, which is some 140 miles south from Paris.  

What are the categories in shooting for the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The sport of shooting will see players feature across 15 medal categories, which are mentioned below:

10m Air Rifle (women’s/men’s/mixed team)

50m Rifle 3 Positions (women’s/men’s)

10m Air Pistol (women’s/men’s/mixed team)

25m Rapid Fire Pistol (men’s)

25m Pistol (women’s)

Trap (women’s/men’s)

Skeet (women’s/men’s/mixed team)

What are the rules in shooting and how does scoring works?

Olympics features three disciplines in shooting, which are rifle, pistol and shotgun. While the rifle and pistol shooting events take place in a range, where players target 10m, 25m and 50m across three positions, which are kneeling, prone and standing. However, the positions vary from event to event. 

In shotgun, things are a bit different. The shotgun event take place in an outdoor arena where shooters target flying disc-shaped targets which are fired from different angles and directions.
