The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied the reports that claim it suffered the colossal financial losses after hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. A total of 15 ODIs were played at the marquee ICC event with 10 hosted by the sub-continent nation. Pakistan hosted their games in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Team India didn’t travel to Pakistan citing security concerns and played all their five games in Dubai. The Men in Blue remained unbeaten in the competition and lifted the coveted trophy under Rohit Sharma. While Team Pakistan, who were the primary hosts, failed to perform upto the expectations and left the competition without any victory.
Following Pakistan’s early exit from the competition, there were reports that cricket fans in Pakistan are not showing interest in watching the remaining games. After Pakistan’s disheartening campaign, the reports also claimed that the PCB faced a humongous loss of PKR 869 crore for hosting the distinguished ICC tournament.. Reacting to the reports of the losses, PCB has said it didn’t bear any losses but recorded the huge gain of PKR 3 billion.
"Every playing nation came to Pakistan during the 2025 Champions Trophy and had a wonderful stay here. It was a historic event in Pakistan. PCB earned a profit of PKR 3 Billion from the 2025 Champions Trophy. PCB is among the top three financially strong boards in the world," said the PCB spokesperson Amir Mir while addressing a press conference on March 20.
