Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday, December 1 announced the appointment of former cricketers including Kamran Akmal, Rao Iftikhar Anjum and Salman Butt as consultant members to the Chief Selector, Wahab Riaz. But in the latest move, the cricket board as withdrawn Salman Butt’s name.

The news around the same was confirmed in a press conference on Saturday, 2 December by Wahab Riaz. The Pakistan Chief Selector questioned the media after reports of Riaz nominating Butt’s name to the advisory panel. The former Pakistan cricketer, Butt, who is a close friend of Riaz, was said have received preferential treatment but on Saturday, the Chief Selector clarified that he aims to maintain the reputation of the PCB and his own integrity, leading to Salman Butt’s withdrawal.

“I had proposed Salman Butt’s name and now I am reversing it,” Wahab Riaz said at the Press conference.

Salman Butt’s appointment along with Rao Iftikhar and Kamran Akmal caused a massive uproar among the masses. Additionally, it was for the first time that Butt was included in the PCB since being banned in a spot fixing case in 2010. The former Test captain represented Pakistan in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs and 24 T20Is. He scored 5,209 runs across the three formats with 11 international centuries to his name.
