The main nominations for the PFA awards have been announced, and a lot of the ‘usual suspects’ are present. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Chelsea forward Lauren James were nominated in more than one category. This year’s PFA Awards deviate from the previous season’s as it is a player’s performance over a calendar year rather than a league season.

Haaland is the favourite to win the Player of the Year award as a result of guiding Manchester City to the Premier League title with 36 goals in 38 games. Bukayo Saka is likely to win the Young Player of the Year award as a result of netting double figures in goals and assists in the premier league as Arsenal finished runners-up.  Sam Kerr and Lauren James are nominated for leading Chelsea to a fourth consecutive domestic title.
