Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener Phil Salt displayed his formidable side against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, played in Jaipur and handed his team a comprehensive nine-wicket win. Fielding first after winning the toss, RCB bowlers performed superbly on the batting-friendly surface and restricted the hosts to 173/4 in 20 overs. Krunal Pandya emerged as a headache for batters as he bowled his four-over spell and gave away only 29 runs. He also delivered the first breakthrough for his team, getting rid of RR captain Sanju Samson. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also looked decent with the ball as he registered 1/32 figures.
Chasing the target, Salt showed no mercy towards the bowlers and dealt in boundaries. He played a 65-run innings off just 33 balls. The right-handed batter’s innings was studded with five fours and six maximums. Riding on his spunky performance along with an unbeaten 62 from Virat Kohli, RCB chased down the total in just 17.3 overs. Noting the English player’s batting brilliance, social media users showered praise on him. An X user named Karthik wrote, “56 (31) vs KKR 32 (16) vs CSK 37(17) vs DC 65(33) vs RR. Phil salt is the real Hitman of Cricket. I’m so grateful to have Phil Salt playing for my favorite team, RCB”.
RCB win their fourth away match in IPL 2025
With this success, RCB have now bagged their fourth win in the tournament. Bengaluru’s all victories have come in away matches. Before hammering RR in Jaipur, Rajat Patidar and his men trampled Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their respective backyards.
Bengaluru’s next assignment will be against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB are yet to win their first match at home in this competition. The Challengers lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at home.
