Phoenix Suns' new owner Mat Ishbia has recently fired two-time coach of the year winner Monty Williams after the Suns' elimination from the NBA playoffs 2023 by Western Conference leaders Denver Nuggets in Game 6 of the semifinals. Hours after Williams' sacking, reports have emerged that the Suns are 'exploring the feasibility' of hiring Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue.

The 46-year-old Ty Lue led the Cleveland Cavaliers to its first NBA championship in franchise history during his first season with the Cavaliers in 2016. After the abrupt dismissal of Monty Williams, the Suns are looking to sign Ty Lue as his replacement, as reported by NBA insider  Marc Stein.

Stein took to his Twitter handle and shared the recent development, he wrote, " The Suns, league sources say, are expected to explore the feasibility of trying to lure Tyronn Lue away from the Clippers after tonight's abrupt dismissal of Monty Williams as coach. "

Phoenix and the Clippers, both had a below-par post-season as the Suns were unable to make a comeback against the Nuggets despite signing Kevin Durant ahead of the post-season while Paul Geroge-less LA Clippers were eliminated in the first round even with Russell Westbrook's vintage performance in the playoffs.

The Suns knocked out LA Clippers 4-1 in the first round of the NBA playoffs 2023 to advance to the Conference Semifinals, where they lost 4-2 against the Nuggets. On the other hand, Los Angeles Lakers defeated Memphis Grizzlies and defending champions Golden State Warriors to reach the finals, where they will face Nikola Jokic's Denver for the Conference championship.
