After Sarfaraz Khan shone for Mumbai with a double hundred on day two, Abhimanyu Easwaran also came up with a hundred for the Rest of India (ROI) as they look to get closer to their opponents’ first innings total 537 runs at the close of play on day three in the 2024 Irani Cup. The opening batter crossed 150 runs on day three, scoring his 26th hundred in First-class cricket. With the help of his knock, the Rest of India scored 289/4 by the end of day three, trailing by 248 runs. Easwaran is still unbeaten on 151*(212) after hitting 12 fours and a six.
Beginning day three with 536/9, Mumbai could add one more run before Rest of India bowled them out for 537 runs in the first innings. Sarfaraz Khan remained unbeaten on 222 runs off 286 balls, scoring 25 fours and four sixes. On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar shone with the ball taking a 5-wicket haul, conceding 110 runs in his spell of 30 overs.
Abhimanyu Easwaran keeps Rest of India interested in reaching Mumbai’s first innings total
Coming to bat after bowling Mumbai out for 537 runs, the Rest of India lost their first wicket at the score of 40 runs after skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got out with a score of just 9 runs. After that, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan put up a partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket. Sudharsan was dismissed after scoring 32 runs off 79 balls. Easwaran also added 70 runs for the fourth wicket with Ishan Kishan (38 off 60).
In the midst of these parternships Abhimanyu Easwaran went on to complete his 26th first-class hundred in 117 balls. Along with him, Dhruv Jurel is also unbeaten on 30 runs off 41 balls scoring four fours and a six at the close of play on day three. The Rest of India are currently at 289/4 with six wickets in hand, still trailing Mumbai by a substantial margin on the first innings.
